well for one the biggest problem is that the society here is racially and socially segregated. westerners stick with westerners or arabs stick with arabs, indians with indians etc ets, not saying that there are no exceptions, but thats how i have seen it over many years . i can understand your frustration, but thats the way life is ... i was born and brought up here (to indian parents), but never ended up making friends from other nationality .. my only achievement in making sure that i have a multi cultural friend circle was that non of my friends come from one part of the country (and if you know anything abt india, then you will know that we are diverse grope), even though i had my easier options.
