There's been a lot of troll activity these past weeks. (PMs and nasty posts on threads).
We even had one approved then we just unsubscribed when he/she was getting out of control and doing activities of a troll. And a lot were already asking for that user to be unsubscribed from the group because of it.
We don't want to go into an approve then unsubscribe mode. We are thinking of doing a control just as the Social Group did (but maybe another set of criteria)... Right now there is a "TRACK" tab on your user account. We check that for the activity or non-activity. Tiring? yes...
