I'm not sure what point you are trying to make about the west being proof that mankind does not have the wisdom to make up their own laws.  That, in my opinion is a pretty broad generalization considering there is much about the west that works and works quite well.  Honestly PH, do you believe that mankind is doing that much better in other parts of the world - whether Christianity, Islam or atheism is prevalent?

Also I agree with DG about the oppression of woman.  Women do not ask for rape or any type of abuse whether it be physical, verbal or emotional.  Taking away a women's rights in the name of protection makes no sense to me.  And the way it is constantly presented it sounds like the problem lays with the men who have not been taught to respect women so why is the woman the one who has to make the sacrifice?  Sorry guys - I mean no offense but this is just how this whole things shakes out for me with respect to women covering themselves, not allowed to interact with non-familial men, etc.
