In India the proportion of women who drive cars are much lower compared to Qatar. I have never seen a woman drive a car wearing a veil. I know lots of muslim women who drive and none of them wear a veil.
I think it is progression. It depends on which angle you take - religious or other.The proportion of muslim women in India wearing veils has reduced a lot. The practice is prevalent in middle and lower-middle income families, it is vanishing in high-income families. Nobody makes a big fuss of it.
That's what I meant in my previous post. Movies show a society that is non-existent.
