Unfortunately in the US there are incidents every summer like this.  Often times it is like shining star said - hurried parents forget.  Not an excuse by any means. I remember an incident a few years ago where the father picked up the baby from day care along with groceries.  Brought the groceries in but forgot the baby.  The baby died from heat stroke.  DG - I agree that many times the parents are not prosecuted (unless it was truly neglect) but as a parent - living with the loss of a child at your own hands is punishment enough.  I would never be able to forgive myself.

Which brings me back to the story.  I hope they sought medical care for the baby.  Heat stroke and heat exhaustion should be treated by a physician as just cooling the body down is often times not enough.

I pray for the baby and the mother.

What a strange illusion it is to suppose that beauty is goodness.
