Word does get around. I have heard from people who have had experiences with Qataris that are similiar to what Oryx described. For the record I don't believe that these instances represent the entire population. I actually think that these types of people are in the minority but the fact is, it still happens and you realize as an expatriate that it could happen to you as well so it is understandable that expatriates approach Qataris with caution. I do agree with Diamond Girl when she said that people with the least amount of power are the ones who abuse it. We call that "little man's syndrome" where I come from but it should be noted that even those with a little power can make it really rough for those with no power. On a positive note I do believe things are changing in Qatar for the better.
What a strange illusion it is to suppose that beauty is goodness.
