My husband and I were brought up Catholic. We raised our children in the Methodist church. We have always allowed them to go to church with friends (different religions and such). I don't think a parent should force their beliefs on their children. I can understand why someone would but it's just not for us. Yes, you should teach your child about God and let them know your beliefs...but once they are old enough they should decide for themselves.
My daughter now belongs to a Non-Denominational church which she really likes. My oldest son doesn't attend church...I think it is because he was forced to go every Sunday in Boarding School. He is 23 years old so that is his choice. My youngest son goes to church with friends or with me at times.

Just my humble opinion.
