Just look at the widespread poverty, high rates of iliteracy etc. India does need the US whether you like it or not. The US is still the world's largest economy by a long way despite having a population of one quarter the size of India's. Hundreds of thousands of Indians try to emigrate to the US every year and there are many illegal Indians in the US. India is growing fast and cannot sustain that growth by domestic demand alone. It needs trading partners and the US is still the world's largest trading partner.

The current economic gloom in the US is affecting India and will continue to affect India.

I never said that India is like Iran. Of course it is not thank God. India is growing fast and I am sure will have a great future. I have only positive wishes for India and I think India will play an increasingly important role in world affairs. This is a good thing. But the fact remains that India still has a way to go before it is a first world country. I hope that transition takes place in our lifetime. I think it will.

Maddepp said "hats off to Iran". What a stupid thing to say. Iran is using the nuclear threat to threaten world security, prosperity and the lives of millions. Why hats off to Iran?

Personally, I am in favor of nuclear disarmament (including the US) and am against the nuclear weapon aims of any country.

India has always had a very difficult relationship with China. Now we have two burgeoning nuclear giants, not to mention Pakistan and other unstable regimes like Iran and growing paranoia from Israel. The world is a tinder box and a careless moment could end everything.

This is my position and I stick to it. It is nothing against India. I wish nothing but the best for India.

Just call me Tigasin. That's what I'm talking about
