It was very embarassing. I had just gone to Miami to pick up an English friend from the airport. It was her first visit to America. We were driving up US1 just north of Vero Beach when I got pulled over by s Sherrif's cruiser for speeding.

The cops ran a license check and found I had two unpaid tickets from years earlier. The cops handcuffed me, shoved me in the back of the cruiser and took me to jail. My friend, who had never driven in America before had to follow to the jail where she used all of her travellers checks to bail me out. I was in jail for just over an hour. Long enough to be photographed holding the sign board with the prisoner number. Kind of embarrassing to say the least.
