Doha has Globals and Ministry which cater to the masses.
When The Pearl Lounge opened I thought brilliant a more intimate club but unfortunately it was all about trousers and shirts and not about the atmosphere. I remember going on a Tuesday evening and being asked for 200QAR to enter. My wife and friend went in and there was 1 person in there!
My wife is a DJ and we had a great time in the UK over the summer being able to dress funky casual and go out for a good dance.
Doha needs somewhere that will hold 2-300 people. On wknds it should be a bar/club, opening til late. For me I love vocal funky house. Stuff that makes people want to dance. Too many times in Doha the music doesnt suit the crowd. As the night goes on then the music can get harder moving on to electro etc.
During the wk it should be open as a bar with live dj playing live music possibly lounge/chilled or even have a full on night. I managed to club in the wk in the UK and still go to work the next day!
Well rant over. Here for 2 yrs now and there has been progress but not enough!
I think the most important thing is the music.
