To answer the comment of Plato36: The chicken was first. Not only chicken lay eggs..Reptiles do as well. The creations came first, then they multiply....
Islam does have good solutions for most of the problems. Mostly social.
Many sees the social punishment as very severe..but they see not the wisdom behind it. Before someone is punished, he is judged in a court with 4 witnesses...If he repents he is forgiven...but in our modern courts can someone be forgiven and sent home just asking for forgiveness? Capital punishment is a very good deterrent to more crimes..Who can convince me that the crime rate is higher in countries where Islamic Shariah prevails? SOme hardened criminals are like weeds in a garden..Do you treat weeds? No you just kill it without thinking.
On the finance side, has not Islam provided the best solutions? See how the manmade financial systems is crumbling..Why are the banks crumbling?
Islam does not allow speculations...see how islamic finance is emerging at fast rates in US and UK...if they weren't so good why they booming? How many financial institutions in Islamic countries have you seen going into administration or gone bust?
A non muslim famous person, I forgot his name, said if the world adoprted the islamic finance system, the world would not see poverty..Islam impose 2.5% zakaat...and everyone is dying to pay zakaat because of the satisfaction he gets when he knows of the reward. I have seen companies directors who dont want to lower their profits because they are keen on paying zakaat...which company in the western world would want to do that? they hire experts to minimise their tax....why so many of you came here? because you hate tax, isn't it?
On the mental side, Islam provides the best solutions. How many mental hospitals have u seen in Islamic countries. Islam teaches us to be patient and to know that everything happens for a cause. Muslims are in a stronger position to bear with a loss or problem... muslims are confident that after the storm the sun will shine again... But having said that I have seen a lot of muslims in western world becoming mental as they have rejected their religion and adopted the western way of life.
In terms of society, A son is called"son of say John" and JOhn is called " the father of Sam". So if anyone misbehaves he brings shame on the other and respect is highly valued in Muslim society. Jesus is called Son of Mary in the Koran. The attitude of " Who cares" rarely exists in Muslim society unlike in Western world.
Of course Islam as read in the Koran will not provide solutions to specific personal problem or how to present accounts or how to cook some food, what to do if you become bald or have an acne....to believe and expect such solution would bring stupidity to shame...
But Islam does provide a solution for health and healthy diets...For example it recommends "Eat 1/3 food, 1/3 liquid and 1/3 empty...and of course the fasting month... The daily 5 times ablution Muslims make before they pray, make them avoid sweating of the feet, cleanse the part of the body that is exposed from dust and microbes....there is some solutions if we care to think deep.... the eating of halal..i.e. animals drained of blood before they are eaten. Animals are not fully drained the way they are slaughetered in the western society. Blood left cause diseases..The circumcision and shaving of the genitals and armpits, all these help in hygiene.
There is too much to write...I was someone who tried many religions to find inner peace...finally I found Islam and what really AMAZES me is: not only I found God but I find that Islam is not a religion...it is a Way of life....If you dig further in this religion, you will find a lot I am sure. To end this, I would like to say Islam is not the religion for Arabs only. And since its existence from the timeof Adam, all prophets who came after him were mocked at just like some of you are mocking the guy who put that post. Seen the 10 Commandments how Moses was mocked at. Seen Jesus of Nazareth how Jesus was mocked and pestered at. Same thing Muhamamd got his fair share of mocking and those followers of Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. (PBU them all)
