Greg I Agree with your point "Good in English not Excellent"
Even if English is your mother tongue you cannot even claim that your "excellent in it". For me the true measure of good communication is when both parties were able to comprehend each other, not even Abraham Lincoln can't say that he is "excellent" in English.

Also regarding the difference between writing and speaking, Its also true that even if you are good in speaking the language it doesn't mean your a good correspondence writer that's why there are correspondence classes. On some job applications I encountered, the ratings for writing and speaking is separate.

Only...the best way to improved either skills is you must learn to accept that once in a while we commit errors so be open for corrections.

Lastly... Everyone that have contributed in this forum doesn't have the right to claim "EXCELLENT" status regarding this matter although we can aspire.
