PS3 bluray player is great but only when playing bluray discs. You will start to hate it as soon as you play a regular DVD on it. The reason is because PS3 is not equipped with a high-performance upscaler that can upscale your standard definition DVDs to 720p or full HD quality to match your HD LCD tv. But standalone bluray players are mostly equipped with upscaler chips such as HQV (Hollywood quality Video) on samsung bluray player or SHARC chip (on pioneer bluray players) and the output quality of these players is unbeatable when you compare it with PS3 playing a regular DVD.
So spend your money wisely. I have a DVD collection of over 650 movies so i wanted a bluray player that can upscale these to HD resolution for my HD LCD tv. And after hours of walking on the humid streets of Doha, I finally bought the BD370 from LG and I am more than happy with the results.
