The group admins formed the group and hence they do own it in a manner of speaking. Thats why its called a group. If you want to be part of the group, you will have to follow what the admins layout for you.

You can either be part of the herd and follow their rules or make a new one as a leader or just stay out of it all as a lone wolf. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
