She beat her child knowing what kind of damage a blow to the head can cause. So with her knowing that and causing the death of her child, I'm sorry to point out that it makes it clearly 'MURDER' to me. Her anger (her child wasn't doing as well as she should) and obsession in perfection (the little girl just had to recite and memorize that poem there and then, right???) drove her to administer a blow that caused DEATH.

To me it is and will be murder.
