Yeah, unfortunately, the nationals who have posted on here in he last 24 hours in reference to their salary hike appear to have missed the point being made by contributors entirely. I dont really see evidence of green eyed monster syndrome here it is merely a realistic concern about the broader implications of tinkering with fiscal policy for the population as a whole. I read in the paper this morning that Gulf Economic analysts were poo pooing talk of an inflationary reaction and also that the government were being asked to monitor commercial developments. I for one am not convinced by either!!
I absolutely am envious of the locals and the way their leadership looks after them - coming from the Uk as I do, this is totally alien to me!!!!
I dont suppose anybody begrudges anybody a pay hike PROVIDING it doesnt adversely affect other people and there's the rub - economic realities determine that other people cannot help but be affected by this move - this it appears to me is the thrust of what contributors are saying in the main on this thread.
The "if you dont like it then go back to your base country" is a tiresome argument.
