Talk to your workmates, ask one or two out for coffee after jumah(wherever they are from). Often, guys meet after jumah for coffee and if you can get in with one, you might meet others among the group to be friends with. Don't assume anything about Qatari's. They are just regular people and they are friendly and will be happy to socialize with you if you are a polite person.
Just be friendly and you will make friends. Don't unthinkingly dismiss polite invitations, because that is how I have met some of the nicest people.
