As long as they are paying his visa costs 100QR entry and 100QR renewal and then flight costs to Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Bahrain - then that is perfectly acceptable.
I advise him to apply for an international driving licence in Canada as that will be necessary if he wants to drive here. Car rental and ownership will have to be in your name though as you will RP (residency permit)
