Iamthexxx the funny thing about some GM crops are.. that the first year they give bumper crops then the ground is sucked dry... nothing will grow there for another few years...
that is the reason many farmers couldnt payback the loan and they had to commit sucide....
Not only they died, lost the land but the cultivable land goes out of cultivation...
Then they can say... "see.. the food production has fallen... we need GM crops"... and the cycle continues....
What happens after the banks seizes the land is another story... they sell it at throwaway price to the Ministers... mostly Agriculture Minister (as he helped them to convince the farmers to take loan and use GM crops to die).
