I'm planning to go to Dubai by road during the Eid Holidays, in my RP Designation is Supervisor do i need visa here itself or i can get on arrival.

If need visa what is the procedure to get a visa (pls guide me if u have any agencies for UAE visa). Or we need to apply visa from UAE with any of our relatives or friends.

And I want to take my parents (who are on visits) along with me by road. Can that be possible.

The procedures to apply for a Visa to travel by Road to Dubai are quite easy. I have explained this to someone else just recently, but anyhow its my pleasure to say it again. The information below is to the best of my knowledge and experience.

I have travelled to UAE by road more than twice in the past few years. First you are to apply for a Visit Visa by road to the UAE Embassy here in Qatar, which is located in the Diplomatic Area very close to the Four Seasons Hotel, the area opposite to City Centre complex. Along with an application, you would be required to submit your Original Passport, Copy of your ID Card, Passport Size photos, No Objection Letter to UAE Embassy from your Sponsor, Car permit and details. The application itself has to be signed and stamped by your sponsor. Submit all these to the Embassy and they would approve/reject it within 24 hours, the result of which you can collect from them the next day itself. The fee is about QR100/- per person. I don't have the updated fee, if changed.

Once this is done, then you have to duplicate the exact same procedures at the Saudi Embassy, which happens to be just buildings away from the UAE Embassy. Unfortunately this would take more time than the UAE Embassy, probably about 4 to 5 working days. The fee is about QR50/- per person.

I am also aware that they would not permit you to travel with friends, only with immediate family such as wife and kids, or brothers and sisters and parents, etc. However this is subject to them holding Residence Permit here in Qatar. For your parents who may be on visit here in Qatar, I believe it would not be possible to obtain this visa to travel along with you by road. However I would advise you to check with them directly, they are quite friendly and speak English as well at the UAE Embassy.

The total time to travel by road to DUBAI if you would drive at a speed of approximately 90km/hr or 100km/hr is about 8 to 9 hours including the time it would take at the borders of Qatar/Saudi and Saudi/UAE. This time would reduce by about 2 hours if you travel to Abu Dhabi. You would need to take insurances for your car (third party) at these borders, which is a fairly simple procedure. You won't even have to get out of your car. The total distance to Abu Dhabi is 615kms and to Dubai is another 160kms, therefore the total distance to DUBAI is about 775kms.

It surely is fun to travel by road and I highly recommend it. Hope your query has been clarified my friend. If you wish to make any further clarifications, please don't hesitate to write back or call me on 6733733.

Cheers & hope you have a Great Trip!
