Family RP Cancellation
I have an opportunity in UAE and would like to cancel my QATAR -RP. At the last minute (after i vacated the house, handed over my car etc.)I came to know that my RP cannot be cancelled unless my family RP is cancelled. They are presently in INDIA and they cannot travel immediately as my wife has delivered very recently. I would like to know if there is any procedure by which I can cancel my family RPs when they are in INDIA.
My company says that my family should be here in order to cancel their RPs. I am really confused I have already resigned and the other job is only possible if i cancel my Qatar RP.
If some one can help me on this I shall be really grateful. contact No.5980262

Yes - It sounds like your employer is trying to get the residence visa canceled first and then give you the exit visa - I have heard of this before - a few employers do this so that when their employees leave the country they will not be liable if any debts are owed. By canceling the RP first they are trying to legally cover themselves under Qatari employment law. Problem is obviously the huge inconvenience this will cause you while you are forced to wait for this to be done by the Ministry. It may take some time.... :(
he has resigned and he still needs an exit to leave the country.
i agree with what doc says. but looks like the company is placing an hurdle in his way.
happy heart

Your employer has the power to cancel you and your family's RP, but there really is no need to. In any case, are you sure you really need to actually cancel the RP if you are moving to the UAE? If you are no longer working for this company, have payed all outstanding bills and have an exit visa then I can't see why you need to cancel the RP as you can just leave on the next flight to the UAE.... Also, the visa is electronically registered/numbered so I don't believe there is a need for it to be physically canceled by someone stamping "canceled" in your passports - the employer just needs to send your RP numbers to the Ministry for canceling....
