The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, yesterday approved a proposal for transferring the authority to consider family visa applications from the Labour Ministry to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
When the new rule comes into force, a committee in charge of considering recruitment applications at the Ministry of Interior will also take decisions on expatriate workers’ applications to bring their families to Qatar.
At present, a standing committee for recruitment at the Labour Ministry is in charge of processing family visa applications.
The Cabinet has also approved an Advisory Council recommendation to issue a draft law amending some provisions of Law No: 3 of 1983, organising the functioning of pharmacies, distributors and agents of pharmaceutical companies.
A proposal for the reformation of the military retirement committee was also approved.
Qatar’s membership to the protocol on combating the manufacture of firearms, and a protocol against the smuggling of migrants were also approved. The two protocols supplement the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime for 2000.
Qatar’s accession to the international co-operation treaty on patent licences was also approved.
The Cabinet then reviewed a letter by the financial information unit on the measures taken by the unit to enforce law No.4 of 2020 on fighting money laundering and terrorism financing and took the appropriate decision.
The Cabinet also approved the following:
1- The Arab agreement on the protection of authors’ rights and neighbouring rights, the modified version of the Arab agreement on the protection of authors rights (Baghdad 1981).
2- Draft co-operation agreement in the legal field between governments of Qatar and Azerbaijan.
3 - Draft co-operation agreement in the field of news between governments of and Panama.
4 - Draft co-operation agreement in the legal field between governments of Qatar and Ecuador.
5 -Draft Memorandum of Understanding on tourism co-operation between governments of Qatar and Ecuador.
6 -Draft Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism co-operation between governments of Qatar and Panama.
7 - Draft Memorandum of Understanding for co-operation in the field of health between governments of Qatar and Croatia.
8- The draft executive programme for the cultural co-operation agreement between the governments of Qatar and Korea for scholastic years (2010 / 2011, 2011 / 2012, 2012 / 2013).
9 -Draft agreement on co-operation in the cultural field between governments of Qatar and Slovenia.
10 - Draft air transport agreement between governments of Qatar and Slovenia.
11 - Approved the proposal of the Civil Aviation General Authority to conduct talks in the field of air transport with Panama and Ecuador.
12 -Approved the hosting of the first meeting of the successful management practices series, organised by the Administrative Development Institute in co-operation with the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development during the period in March, 2011.
