As my contract will expire on Jan-2010 and i don't want to continue, i have submitted my resignation before 38 days of contract expire. now company compels me to work
for another 2 or 3 weeks additional to the contract period till they got a replacement. if i don't want to stay more due to my exams in india for which i have submitted proof along with my resignation letter itself,
is it possible. kindly advice.

If you want an NOC to come back again within 2 years then staying a little longer might be beneficial, however, if you just want to get away from here, then they have no right to hold you against your will beyond your notice period.
