Hi all,

We r a small South-Indian family, both husband and wife working and with a 3-yr-old kid.  We want to bring in a Housemaid from India to look after our kid, but by Qatari rules, are eligible only for an Indonesian or Filipino maid.  Can someone help us to get an Indian Housemaid Visa or can exchange their's with our other Nationality Visa?  Please reply by mail or by posting here.  Thank you.

House maid...

You cannot have maid of same nationality.

ie Indians cannot have Indian.

You can have Sri Lankan maid as they are Qr 600 (Qr 900 as per contract)per month.

Qr 1800 visa fee (valid for 2 yrs)- one time.

QR 6000 to 7000 manpower fees. - one time.

That means Within QR 10,000 you can have a Srilankan Maid.

Thanks SAP for your piece of advice. I too heard the same sometime back, but am in dark, like u, reg. the authenticity. I have seen some (Indian) families with Indian maids (all being here for more than 7 years now) having been sponsored by some kind-hearted Qatari; 7+ years and still counting with no legal implications as such. Depends on sheer luck I guess!!!

I was told that India has stopped allowing maids to come to Qatar (don't know how far this is true though!) and also, there are legal implications of having live-in maid sponsored by other people.

I also tried this before but I was advised by my friends to stay away from this arrangement..
