My girlfriend is visiting from the uk and she holds a British passport, she will staying for 10days hopefully.

Now the question is does she need to fly in on Qatar airways or can she use British airways (£200-£300 cheaper)? Also does she need to she's staying at a hotel or can she say she's staying with me?

Hopefully somebody can clarify as the tourist visa business is very confusing.

If there is anything else I might have overlooked please let me know.

Thanks

Being a Brit she can fly in on whatever airline she wants. I've used both BA and QA. My friend flew in on KLM.

I'm not sure about the accommodation so can't help there.

No matter what you read, you DO NOT need to pay the immigration visa on a credit card. E-Cards can be purchased from the small cash office just inside the arrivals hall (on the right-hand side). You tell the cashier how much you want to load the card with, hand over the readies and the card can be used to pay for the visa, it is also accepted at various stores around Doha (well according to the cashier anyway!).

Sorry, I should add that this is as long as she has a UK Passport.

Regarding the tourist visa, if you go to the Al Maha desk at Arrivals and pay, they sort the visa and meet your guest from the plane, reunite them with their luggage and clear them through immigration and deliver them to you. They need 24 hours notice, the passengers full name and nationality and the flight no. It is invaluable and has worked many, many times for my family. My mum loves being met at the steps of the plane and being whisked away.

You can use BA if you want but remember to check Etihad and Gulf Air as well. It is sometimes cheaper to book a BMI flight as it is still Qatar Airways but they are trying to promote it at the moment. My friend saved 200 pounds and went on the same flight she would have done if booked QA.

Regarding where to stay, that's up to you. I'm sure you will get lots of advice about that.

All the best, JJ

Requirements ????

Let us engage an Event Mgmt company and arrange red carpet from Airport to your house....also declare a national holiday.....lol

just kidding .... if the BA flights are cheaper, let her come by that flight. As a UK citizn, she is entitled to get "visa-on-arrival" from the Doha Airport.

Staying together with a girl friend is illegal in Qatar. But arranging her a hotel for 10 days also going to be a costly affair..I will advise to be a "low profile" when you move out with girfriend. Not to show anyone it is your GF. not to even your neighbours. dont provoke anyone with your actions in public. then you can manage 10 days.

Blimey Corr , they dont normally asked where you going to stay in the immigration. Just in case she being asked, best if you gave her the address of one of your female friend and tell your girlfriend that she going to stay with a friend while she is here.

if she hold british passport she can fly with ANY CARRIER, and pay QR100 (must use credit card) for visa upon arrival.
