Need advice on Family visit visa extension vs Residence Permit application

Hello All,

I have heard that for a Family Residence Visa for my wife, I as her sponsorer need to produce 6 months bank statement. I have completed only 4 months for now. Now since my wife is here on family visit visa, I am confused to consider which option.

1. Should I go ahead and directly apply for Residence visa for her

2. Should I go for Visit visa extension. If YES, then should I extend the visit visa by 2 more months so that by the end of 3 months my stay in Qatar will be around 7 months (good enough to apply for RP for her) OR should I directly go ahead and extend the visa for 5 months and then apply RP for her.

Your timely and accurate comments are much appreciated.

Thats good news r_ahmed. Thanks sadetimi for your response as well.

So, how do I go about the RP. Will I need all the documents again, or just need to go to the Medical commission for medical and tell them I need to convert visit to residence visa and they will charge accordingly. I belive 500 for conversion and 100 for medical.

You can proceed for Permanent RP. I got it by 5 month Statement, Same like you my family come here under visit after 2 month of stay i applied for permanent RP with 5 month statement and Alhamdulillah I got approval

the way I see it, you don't have to have 6 months bank statement as they can see that you haven't been here for that long. why waste money in extending the visa if you can go for RP for her. In my experience both when I wanted to get a house and loans, they ask for 6 months bank statement, but the moment I tell them that I have been her for less than that, they ask you to bring what you have and that usually does it.
