I agree with maen, you can request your employer for additional time if you need one..

In my case, my working  visa is also currently being processed however, I have an agreement with my employer that I will be needing atleast 6 weeks (1 month turn-over and 2 weeks preparations) once I get hold of my working visa. Since my employer is a professional organization, they agreed to my request.

I think you can do the same to your employer.

hi zeeshanHere in qatar the employer normally  wait  4 weeks after you receive your  Work visa , but if you need more time you can  request more time .

I cant really help because I am in the process currently. My new employer sent me my work visa last week.

I cannot go to Qatar until I get the doc's to apply for the res. permit. The docs that i need is a certified copy of my police record. I am in the process of obtaining that now. With a res. permit, I can get an ID card to do things like rent an apartment and get a cell phone.

Will you need the same thing?

Thanks galloper48 for your reply. I did advise them that i need to give 1 month notice to my employer in canada, but i was advised by my employer in Qatar in their last email that i need to join ASAP after the arrival of my working visa.

because to my understanding upon receiving the working Visa, your relocation should be ASAP.Besides you should have discussed your availability with the company prior to accept any proposal. Did you do that?? Or now you are trying to gain some time after landing a Job??Regards!!
