Dear all,

I need advice on possible course of actions I can take.

I resigned from my job after 6 years of work, the notice period as per Qatar Labour laws applicable is 2 months.

But the employers by email informs me, they DO NOT accept resignation and I must work as usual / normal ways ?

I have asked the employer to allow me go with dignity but he says NO YOU DON'T GO! Its amazing how they behave!

Any ways I need good thoughts from all of my Doha friends.

Well, your story does match with mine. I also served my employer for 7 yrs but when i made the decision to go for a new opportunity, it was denied. I did consult few lawyers in Qatar who told me that as per current LABOUR LAW, employer's consent is extremely important in order to get NOC.

.

Anyhow, you may consult NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE or go to labour dept along with your latest contract copy and explain them about ur situation. I'm hopeful you might get NOC from them

.

Also, tell them about your situation like RAISE IN SALARY, future prospectives, your financial situation back at home etc. These might force them either to accept your request or IF YOU'RE LUCKY, you might get RELEASE TOO

.

GOOD LUCK DEAR

They cannot refuse to accept your resignation. However, there will be a notice period in your contract that they will expect you to complete. It may be one month, two months or maybe even longer but it should be clearly stated how long this period is.

If all the resignation criteria have been met and still refuse to let you go, demand something like a 100% raise in salary in return. Sure they will let you go

When you have found out what that period is, give your employer a dated letter tending your resignation and specify a leaving date. Keep a copy of the letter for yourself and when you have handed over the letter send an email confirming your leaving date including the phrase, "As stated in the letter I have provided you with today". When you send that mail send a blind copy to your own personal email (eg Hotmail) account and print it off so you have 2 types of paper document and 1 electronic copy.

If your employer refuses to accept this go to the Labour Court with your documents and state your case. Also, if you get any letters or emails back from employer saying you can't leave, make sure you get copies of these too so you can provide these to the court.

follow up on your contract, i am sure that there is a statement saying that you need to give them 1-2 months of notice.... If all they want you is to stay.. then you should ask them for pay rise... or take them to court or the police.

If all of that fails, you can just enjoy your free time at work and have many stuff ups at work so that they have to let you go....heheh cheers

Read what is stipulated on your signed contract given by your employer, you can find there about termination of contract. I believed that you can resign from your job after you have completed your probationary period, also try to google about qatar labour law, you can find answers there ( when you can resign or terminate contract and what to do if they don't allow you to resign. Hope this helps.
