I am a spouse of EU/EAA family member; I am applying for schengen visa to German,

Unfortunately my wife country has no embassy or consulate here in Qatar which makes things difficult

My question is; what is the visa requirement for spouse of EU/EAA family member?
Do I need sponsor letter, salary statement, Hotel booking, flight reservation and etc, etc...?

As I have seen the schengen visa application, there are most of sections I don't need to fill/ answer it!
I called German embassy and there was a receptionist whom she told me to provide all the applicant documents?

Can someone advice me?

Embassies abroad.....contact embassies by emails, collect all documents sent across by courier and get collected as well... bit expensive process.

We generally use United Parcel Services (UPS).

Gassamo, if you get your hotel booked you can asked them to fax you kinda of acknowledgement letter that you are booked and paid in their hotel.

Yes they still require the hotel booking, thats why when we went to Lapland the tour operator had to send the acknowledgement letter via fax to us to submit to the embassy.

I remember that time I went to German embassy like 6 or 7 time all together. It is a pain ... hassle ... but by now i am used to it lol. They want the address, email and phone number of the hotel we are staying stated in the visa form clearly.

Thanks novi for the info, this is what I need to know,

Also what you did with hotel and flight reservation, since you have explained your plan to embassy with covering letter, did required reservation of the flight ticket and hotel booking?

But still I am planning to pass by the country where the visa will be issue for a week but will not be my first port of entry,

Yea, you are right, but it not works in schengen state this way?! Isn't!

The applicants have to submit their applications by hand! and it will not be accepted through courier companies! i have checked with the embassy of first entry ;)

can some one tell me where i can get health insurance for the schengen visa?

Once we went to Greece and I applied the visa through French embassy, I just told them that there is no greek embassy in Doha and French embassy process my visa without any question asked.

We went to Finland (Lapland) applied the visa from German embassy. My husband wrote a covering letter explaining that there is no finland embassy in Doha hence we applied from German Embassy. They process it no problem. When we went to Lapland we did not fly from Doha, we bought the tour that departed from Gatwick airport. So we gave them the flight reservation Doha to the UK and covering letter our itinerary plan. The complication was they are not taking any paperwork through internet booking, the lapland travel operator ended up have to send us the fax explaining that we are genuine tourists that have bought the package from them.

The last one I applied schengen through Hungarian embassy, but then we cancelled our plan to go to Budapest and ended up going to Amsterdam with cruise ship from New Castle.

As far as your itinerary is clear and tell them what you plan to do I cant see any problem. So whatever you planning to do just explain to them in a covering letter and submit the necessary documents.

If you go to Paris via eurostar from London, there is no passport control on the way in. I was very surprised when I arrived , my husband keep teasing me that I am an illegal immigrant.

of entry/port of arrival......

use the closest embassy within the region like we send our pp to Kuwait for Switzerland visa or Bahrain for Singapore visas.

if your spouse is EU passport holder the schengen visa should be free. I never pay for my schengen visas ... done itthrough German, Italian, French, and Hungarian embassy.

As FS said, you still have to submit all the paperwork. They will not take internet booking print out.

And yes bank statement is a must.

Due to rush at the customer counter, it is always better to have a face to face communication...prepare a list of your query and check list, contact personally.

it won't take much of your time

Even if your spouse is a EU citizen, if you are going on tourist Visa you need to submit all the documents required in the visa application.

Its easy to get it through German Embassy, it will take only 2 days.

You can get an invitation letter from your spouse's family there.

You will need travel insurance for the duration of stay.

You will need a letter from your employer.

Dunno if bank statement is mandatory in this case..

The lady there is very helpful, its better to visit the Embassy and clarify..
