Visa for my Taiwanese wife to come with me to Qatar

I will soon be moving to Qatar to teach and am having difficulty organizing my wife's visa. My son and I are both British passport holders but my wife is Taiwanese. My future school is being unclear on information needed to get her a visa to come with me in August and the best they have told us so far that is she wait until my residency comes through, although they are looking at alternatives. Can anyone give us advice as to what to what is the best thing to do? Who do we get a letter from for her to get a visa or do we have to wait for two months? Also, which kind of visa should she apply for, tourist or visit? Thanks

Thanks for the advice. In fairness to the school, they are looking at other ways. To get a visit visa we need a letter from someone to invite my wife, is that right? As far as I understand it the family visa can only be done after I have my RP or is there a way for us to apply for either before we go to Qatar at the end of August?

I'm afraid the school is right that you must have your RP before bringing your wife over. I think there might be an alternative option that your wife can come sooner under tourist/family visit visa. Check QL on this. Don't forget to get your marriage and your son birth certificates attested.

I wouldn't trust this school. Can't they say 'yes' or 'no'?
