work visa against visit visa

can i enter Doha as a visitor (i can obtain visa on arrival, at the airport), then straight away work with my employer? Then, while working with my employer, i will start my application for a residence visa or residence permit.

the reason i'm asking is because, according to my employer in Qatar, they had sent in my working visa application on 6th Octobe 2010. until now (29th October 2010), the working visa has not been received from immigration department. my employer told me that i should not enter Doha and should just wait for my working visa.

what is the difference between working visa and visitor visa (on arrival)? if they are just for permitting me to enter Doha, then why would i have to wait for the working visa?

advise please. thanks.

if you have an answer to my enquiry or substance in your opinion, plesae assist in my enquiry. otherwise, you do not have to respond. it is pointless, responding to a forum topic for the sake of responding and writing useless things to an enquiry. peace to all mankind and take it easy.

see, you're being emotional again. your input were like the roundabouts in Qatar, useful but not entirely the perfect solution, are they?

now i would like to allow others to comment on my enquiry.

i think you're not a very attentive person. i didnt state 'not issued'. i stated 'not used'. that company did send the business visa to me, as it was approved by the immigration department. but i had never consumed it because my prior multiple visits were always based on visa on-arrival.

and you should never jump the gun. i didnt ask for or need for an NOC. but the immigration did. as they told my new employer that they want an NOC.

in a forum like this, you need to stay calm, focus on the issues presented, and respond straight to the point. it is either you know it or you dont. dont be shy to say the wrong things but dont offend an innocent enquirer. by accusing my case as nonsense and confused, that only reflects poorly on your mannerism.

i appreciate your comments or your efforts to try and respond to my enquiry, but i think you're not a focused person and seems to be emotional.

thank you very much, but other respondants please feel free to assist me in my enquiry.

if your business visa has never been issued (i.e.the company who applied but never issued your BV, has never been your employer/sponsor), why did you need a NOC letter from the company who never sponsored you?? . it is nonsense. may be you are confusing them by yourself?

don't expect "a good feel from the ground of what could be the possible cause of this delay now".

just wait.

no, i haven't entered doha on 'different types of visas'. in 2005, that was the only time which i had a working visa stamped in my passport, and i entered doha. in 2006, the residence permit/visa was cancelled upon my resignation from my job, then.

between 2006 till today, my entries into Doha, were based on visit visa obtained on-arrival at the airport.

that business visa which was applied by a Qatari company, this year, was never been used. it was cancelled by the company upon my request and an NOC was given to me. this NOC had also been forwarded to my new employer to fulfil the requirement of immigration for my new work visa under a different employer.

i'm still not getting a good feel from the ground of what could be the possible cause of this delay now, or under what circumstances would my new work visa be eventually not approved?

since you've been here few times on different types of visas, perhaps they are checking all your records, that's why it takes time. we don't know why your visa still isn't processed and what will be outcome. but in any case, answering you initial question, this is the reason why your employer told you to wait home. once your work visa is issued, you are good to fly. so just wait.

hi guys, but how do we know if a work visa is being rejected or disapproved by the immigration. i used to work with Qatar civil defence before (2005) and had resigned amicably with all clearances obtained from the relevant agencies. i've not worked in qatar since 2006. what would be other factors that might have caused this delay or even disapproved? could it be my wife's and daughter's enter visas delaying my working visa approval?

as i scroll through some of the forum subject on visas, i noticed some said that the working visas would usually take a few working days and at the most will be 2 weeks. but mine has been almost a month! so, from experience, what is the norm?

btw, early this year a company in Qatar had provided me with a business visa (one month), which by now had been cancelled and NOC had been given to the new employer. so, with the business visa already approved earlier, will this not necessarily mean my working visa should be a breeze?

Work visa is issued not as permission to enter Qatar, but as a permission to work here. Visa on arrival does not allow you to work in qatar. Your employer told you to wait for the work visa, because Work visa might be refused, and then you will have to go home, and your employer will have to carry all the expenses for your transportation. Simple as that.

working visa you can work, visit visa you can visit Doha but not allowd to work. you can enter Doha with visit visa but maybe your employer knows better, maybe it will be difficult to convert in working visa, so why don't you wait. some time it taks time.
