INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LONDON - HOW ACADEMIC ARE THEY?

I will be moving from the UK to Doha in July. At present I don't have a school for my 14 year old daughter although she is on the waiting list of one. I am thinking of applying to ISL but would like some feedback from any parent or student as to how they rate the school. How long are these waiting lists anyhow. Thanks

Hello,

First of all, welcome to Qatar. I hope you will enjoy this peacefull, decent and family oriented country with your family.

My son is a student in ISL and he started as Primary Year 1, last year. After 1 education year, me and my family think that ISL is one of the best international schools in Qatar. I would definitely rate ISL as 9 out of 10.

We were also on the waiting list during the registration period last year, and we only waited for a short time. But it depends on the availability of empty seats in classes, and it is important for you to pre-register from now to increase your chance to be on the top rows of the list.

The school has very nice and clean facilities. Management is very friendly and professional as well. All teachers are highly qualified, and they have good international experiences.

I do not know how they are doing in Middle Years Programme, but their Primary Year Programme is wonderful. My son did not know any English at all when he first started. After 2 semester, now he can read, write and speak (and sing:) english. He is taking French as secondary language, and his french is also improving fast.

Lastly, school has arrangement for school bus service if you will need. Bus service details are on ISL web site.

For more details, you can visit www.islqatar.com, and for 2008 - 2009 School report issued by Supreme Education Council of Qatar, you can visit www.education.gov.qa/SRC/0809/PPINT4210809LR.pdf.

Best wishes...
