Giving birth in Doha
Hi everyone
My wife and I have just found out that she is a month and a half pregnant.
We went to the American Hospital at first, and they were quite good. This is our first baby, so of course we want whats best. So we heard alot of good things about Al Ahli hospital, and decided to go see for ourselves. We went quite late to the emergency ward. The person at the desk assured us that a gynae. was there after 9pm. First of all we told her that we had been to the American Hospital, they did an ultra sound there, and confirmed that we were pregnant. We told the doctor what medication the American hospital had given, and wanted to make sure that it was the rite medication. The Gynae at Al Ahli did another ultra sound, and said she couldnt see anything, so sent my wife for a blood test. When the results came back, all she told us was that my wife was pregnant ( which we already knew) and nothing had been said about the medication that was given to us, which was the reason why we went there in the first place. So we are another QR 500 down and still dont have the correct answers. After reading Qatar living, alot of people have said some bad things about American Hospital, so what can we do?
They are most accomodating and like mariam said..i believe a month and half is actually a bit early for ultrasounds to actually be accurate, but I might be wrong on that...The staff is absolutely wonderful!!! Best wishes and congratulations!!!

Al Ahli is great. I would book an appt with anyone from Dr. Rizvi's team. From what I have heard, Dr. Rizvi is consulting on high-risk pregnancy but otherwise, is very busy. I like the whole staff. Do a search on here or expatwoman.com on the Qatar chatboard. Loads and loads of "having a baby here" info. Good luck!

my wife is also pregnant and last week we visited AL-Ahli hospital, Dr Sujata, she was very good.. Dr, Rizwi is very busy. you will not get appointment before march.. so go for sujata.. just phone and fix an appointment for sujata.. she will take care for u...as she did for us.. she did ultra sound and confirmed the child is 7 weeks and the most amazing and
marvelous was when Dr. let us hear the heartbeat of the 7 weeks child on loudspeaker of ultrasound equip... it was really nice....
I think as early as one and a half could not yet be seen in Ultra sound. You can confirm that by frog test. If confirmation is only what you need. You can take the test in Doha Clinic, or just be very careful if you have a record of delicate pregnancy. Three months is the ideal time to ultra sound.
