Has anyone had problems setting up Microsoft Outlook using a pop server in Qatar? I can get outlook to send messages but I can't receive them and I wonder if it is something to do with Qtel. Qtel told me to use mail.qatar.net.qa but the problem is receiving emails not sending them.
Outlook works fine with a Qtel connection. Just make sure you have the server names correct in the setup for smtp and pop. I use Outlook to connect to three different email accounts. Each sets up a little differently.
Pay attention to the details when setting up. For an example of details, check out yahoo mail or gmail help pages to see how to set them up with outlook. Some servers require different port than the defaults. Some require secure login.
But back to your question. Yes, it works.
For receiving mail you should use mail.qatar.net.qa but I would think for sending mail (outgoing connection) you should use smtp.qatar.net.qa. I'm not using Outlook here in Qatar so this is just an educated guess.
