Police Report

Hi,
Just need some advice from experienced QLers. 3 weeks ago a truck bumped into my car. No damage to the truck, but my bumper and boot were dented. I've made a complaint to the police, but the truck driver didn't.

It's been 3 weeks, and I haven't received a police report. Been to the police station 4 times, and the answer is always tomorrow morning. Is this a common experience?

Appreciate any ideas on how I can push for my police report. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I did provide the number plate of the truck. I'm being persistent, but am also wary of 'irritating' the police with frequent visits. Anyways, the officer has indicated that this may take some time, so I'll just have to wait it out.

Jack, may take you advice as a worst case scenario.

Tell them to make papers in "your fault"...which will cost you around QR 100. And ofcourse you will have to pay the repair charges at the car workshop.

You could have taken a photo of the Truck & its number plate....maybe that would have been sufficient for the police to put the fault on the truck...

Right now it is almost impossible for them to trace the truck number.

It's a very uncommon experience to wait for 3 weeks. Just tell them that you need to go on vacation within 2 days and need the paperwork done so that a friend can hamdle the repairs when you are not in the country. It worked for me...be persistent.

And the truck driver does not need to be there to make a complaint. If you had the number of the truck, you should have just given it to the police. In my case they did not even call the party at fault...just got his insurance details from their system and gave me the report.
