Intrusion on Privacy
What would be the consequences when someone intrudes into a private life especially when “business is taking place?” Apparently, Dan Richman must have missed the “Do Not Disturb” sign when the 54-year old from California interrupted a pair of bears that were trying to mate. Mrs. Bear was unhappy and Mr. Bear who was truly offended attacked Dan in the Sierra Madre foothills of California.
Richman was going along a trail when he spotted a bear on its hind legs just about 50 to 100 feet away. It was the first time Dan had seen a bear in person and he says that he seemed pretty “freaked out.” He turned around to leave when he spotted the second bear a bit much closer. He attempted to scare them off by yelling, but failed. The bear attacked when he tried to run away. Realizing the danger, Richmond played dead letting the bear put its jaws around his neck until it gave up. He then ran off not realizing the injuries he had sustained until he reached safety. He had a head injury and multiple cuts to his legs, feet and torso. A police official described the injuries as a “pretty good bear attack” and considered Dan to be fortunate to be alive.
A game warden believed the bears may have been mating when they were interrupted. The hiker probably surprised the bears and they reacted the way animals do with their teeth and claws.
The moral of the story: Follow strictly the “Do Not Disturb” sign!
My Cuban Shotputter hated to be disturbed during any type of mating ritual
