Which sites, companies etc would you suggest me to contact for a job as a psychologist and psychotherapist? I have 15 years of clinical practice and experience with adults and children, masters and phd, several years of research experience. Is it meaningful to try to set a private practice? Some people told me not. I am an expat and have lived for long as such. I am fluent in four languages not arab.Have lectured and published extensively. Could you kindly give me any hints about whom to contact?Companies or private?

I would suggest private practice (set your own hours, etc.). It's helpful is you're prepared to deal with billing from companies' insurance companies, though (whatever that entails -- carrying insurance/accreditation from a European/American body, etc.).

You'd need a private location (office within your house) to do this, however, plus business cards and an initial way to get the word out about your new practice. But trust me, there is a need in the community for MORE mental health professionals.

But if that doesn't float your boat, then try aproaching some of the larger employers of westerners to see if you can work out some deal with them -- that YOU'RE the psychiatrist they refer their staff to, etc. Again, if you can work it so that you can bill their health insurance companies directly so employees don't pay out of pocket, you're likely to garner a larger clientele and have more success.

There is a support group of mental health individuals in the Doha that meets once a month. Many of them have private practices set up. They'd be a good resource so you can see what's out there already and where are some gaps you could fill.

Good luck!
