Car Owner Liability

Hi..could anyone give an advise, if a car meet an accident for a full option car insurance, who is liable the driver or the owner of the car? What is the extent of liability of the owner just in case someone got hurt physically and worst got killed? I am asking this questions because im going for vacation and a friend wants to drive my car. Thank you in advance.

for the car's damage , insurance will handle every thing.

But I have no idea about the injury to the person. May be the victim can prosecute you and claim a compensation.
