By ELLEY

Hi all,
I am an experienced IT professinal with demonstrated strong skills. Currently i am working for a big swiss bank and have worked for some many best-in-class multinational companies in germany and switzerland.
I have strong background (over 12 years experience , master information technology) in: enterprise application integration, service oreiented architecture, business process modeling, enterprise and solution architecture, data warehousing/databases, CRM, project management

I am looking for an opportunity as: IT project manager, IT architect, IT specialist, … (ALL business areas, the Germans say: we are all cooking with
hot water)

I have already applied for some jobs, all attempts were to no vail. My experience: agencies and HRs are probably placing their "own" persons (that's right) for now.

I saw there are lot of helpfull people here: could someone please help me pass on my CV directly to the right persons (a good positioned company)

Thanks a lot!

Rock, where I am and was you can ALWAYS expect a certificate, if not then you have to ask for. Interviews are also very position dependent!!!

By bleu• 7 Apr 2009 14:49

The rock, SDLC means Single Developer LARGE Company... that candidate is so stupid.

By The rock• 7 Apr 2009 10:57
The rock

I don't know if you were addressing me or someone else, but since your post is after mine so i'll assume you were replying to my post.

Well, to clarify, all candidates are not expected to have certifications. Some may go for the certificaiton and some don't, dosen't mean they don't have the skill if they don't have the certificate/document. And that is what we have to evaluate in the inerview right?

Two interviews, true, that's the way of doing it; but when a candidate says SDLC means Single Developer Company then i don't think there is a need to waste any more time. Don't know what more to say!

It does seem like you are mis-understanding something from my post

Honestly, I did not understand your message.

Generally I want to point to the following:

1) My understanding of an interview is to check the candidate’s suitability to fulfil the

requirements of the future job not the old ones.

2) At least two interviews (soft, technical) are a must

in the IT domain. Very few managers have

strong technical skills, HR never ...

3) experience, skills, ... statements in CVs must be justified by certificates, diplomas, job reference letters, reference letters, reference persons, job certificates, ... NOT in interviews (only job relevant aspects could be BRIEFLY discussed ), if a HR wants to check a CV of an experienced person, than he needs months and a big team of experts. It is the candidate’s job to justify all the stated aspects in his CV (with "paper")

4) I read some agencies job postings like that:

* ".... in doha/bahrain"

* " ... specialist in MQ iSeries ..." (they mean WS MQS)

* " ... needs IT System specialist" (they invented the "universal" system)

* ...

interviewing or selecting?

By The rock• 2 Apr 2009 12:36
The rock

You can send me your CV too (if you like). In a number of interviews we'v taken, candidates couldn't justify what he had stated on the CV. But you'v got good experience so can help us :)

nevertheless, must tell you before hand that feedback can take time as things move reeaaaallly slow in qatar

From reputation only. Came here on the back of my husband, I admit that.

I just posted, did a blog and had loads of clients thereafter.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

yes it's hard, very hard

I have never sent my CV more then 5 times, if at all.

I think it would be hard to find IT jobs with the current recession that "didn't" hit Qatar.

I found my job by myself.. didn't take too long...

Elley, you are an IT specialist, right? how about making a little search (Google, Yahoo, or any other search engine on your preference)? All job agencies have their own websites..shouldn't be a problem finding them...

One of my friends asked me once for the Qatar business directory. I have sent it to her. She started sending her CV to every more or less related to her field Company from this Directory.. on the 10th page she got an offer.. :)

i got my job in qatar through an agency.

the key is to find the 5 or so strongest agencies in IT, and you need to check their webpages daily, and constantly email them when opportunities come up.

In the end I must have been using 10 middle east agencies, and it took time. you need to treat finding a job like it's a job itself. put you CV on sites like BAYT, gulftalent, etc. and update your CV each week so that it goes to the top of the list.

there were some good agencies out there and they were helpful WHEN they had jobs in my field, but you can't expect them to get back to you when they have no jobs.

don't give up. i took me 4-5 months to get my job, and this was before the crisis.

Elley - Welcome to my world my friend!

Can't help, but if you want to get a job out

here you need to know somebody, or get your

application into the relevant person.

Getting anything from a Recruitment Agency is like

platting fog!!!
