Nursing and other NHA registration

I have just gone through a harrowing, long, convoluted experience of registering with the NHA.

Before I came to Qatar I looked for but could find no help in this area. I so wish there was somebody to inform me /help me go through this process, it would have saved me so much time, frustration, uncertainty and even money.

So, with my hard earned experience i now wish to be that person to help anyone wanting to go through the registration process.

If you are already sponsed by a hospital/company they will assist you with registration. But if you are coming as an individual eg being sponsered by your husband/wife and you need my assistance please send me a pm.

@ middy,to be fair, the SCH has come a LONG WAY in terms of information available regarding registration & licensing...there are new people in charge & the results are showing,it's not a 100% yet but considering there was absolutely no system @ all in place, these guys are doing a commendable job...ALL the info. one requires is available @ the SCH website & one just needs to read it & follow it accordingly...i fail to understand what's so hard about it???...a few years ago yes but not any more...just log on to the site, print out the required forms & submit for verification which takes 30 days, once that comes back with a positive result, submit your application & the SCH will intimate you re: registration or if you need to sit an exam depending on profession & qualification...didn't seem that hard to me...

hello middy.I'm a registered nurse from the Philippines. Could you please tell me how to obtain this one or what are the steps/procedures/requirements needed? Is it true that it needs a hospital sponsorship? I'm on a personal visit visa sponsored by my brother-in-law.Is it really difficult to apply for NHA licensure/evaluation?Thank you very much!

It depends, try Aspetar or Sidra, although in my experience for a western nurse to work in the ME you must have atleast 2 years post registration experience in a relevant speciality......Xpat nurse, try Al Corniche in Abu Dhabi they'll sweep you up like a shot with that experience!!

It is very difficult for a western trained nurse to find a job in Qatar unless she is prepared to work full time for a low pay.

I suggest she start looking for a job via agencies back in the UK or if she finds nothing there apply directly to the 4 main hospitals ie Hamad, Alamadi, Al Ahli or Aspetar. you will find websites for all hospitals.

good luck

I have an engineering job opportunity in Doha next year and very keen to go.

My wife will be a newly qualified adult nurse next year having studied for her degree in Glasgow, Scotland and would like to work in Qatar along with me.

What would be the best way of finding her a job? Would she need to apply early next year to go on a waiting list? Unsure how it works in Qatar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have read through so many of the posting for nurses on this site and am not sure to look for work in Doha or try to do my own thing.

Is anybody in private practice as a nurse in Doha, can I apply for a practice number?

Not sure how to go about registration also, can you register as a nurse with the NHA without a job? What is a experience certificate, that needs to be handed in with the registration?

I am a South AFrican registered nurse/midwife. I have a degree in nursing (B.Soc.Sc - nursing), with 10 years experience, 5 years in the UK in primary health care and 5 years in South AFrica in midwifery. I worked in a combined unit: ante, post natal, ceasar theatre and labourward. I ran our antenatal classes and just received my IBCLC qualification (lactation specialist). I also worked in a well baby clinic. Is there privatised baby clinics. Can I try to open my own clinic or do I have to work for a public/private clinic. The diverse salary structuring is also annoying me. Can you argue for a better salary, or do I accept any offer?

HOpe someone will be able to assist me in what options are available.Thank you

Who is he applying to and what does he do? Most hospitals/clinics will help him with registration with the NHA after they offer him the job and he is in Qatar.

It is impossible to register with the NHA unless you have a Qatari resident's permit, which you can only get once you have a job and so a sponser.

My bro in law wants to apply for jobs in Qatar but he keeps receiving letters back tellign him he must be registered with the NHA before they will consider him.

How does this work. what must he do? He is British and is in the UK at the moment. Should he come out to Doha to get registered. We are completely ignorant of the proceedure he should follow. Please please advise us asap

The new hospital being built here is called Sidra and it will not be ready before 2011 - that is if all goes to plan and so often things are delayed here.

Aspetar is also new but they are not employing staff at the moment. There is al ahli, Doha clinic, alamadi and of course Hamad and other specialist hospitals depending on your area of experience.
