ADRIAN, Mich. - Nine suspects tied to a Christian militia in the Midwest were charged Monday with conspiring to kill a police officer, then attack the funeral in the hopes of killing more law enforcement people, federal prosecutors said.
Members of the group called Hutaree are charged in the case, including its leader, David Brian Stone. The suspects included six people from Michigan, two from Ohio and one from Indiana, officials said.
Once other officers gathered for the slain officer's funeral, the group planned to detonate homemade bombs with projectiles, killing more, the newly unsealed court papers revealed.
The charges follow FBI raids over the weekend on locations in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
According to investigators, the Hutaree view local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel as a "brotherhood" and an enemy, and planned to attack them as part of an armed struggle against the U.S. government.
"It is believed by the Hutaree that this engagement would then serve as a catalyst for a more widespread uprising against the government," court documents said.
Eight suspects have been arrested by the FBI, and one more is being sought. Seven suspects appeared briefly in court in Detroit on Monday and were ordered held without bond until a hearing on Wednesday.
The Detroit News quoted Donna Stone, the ex-wife of Stone, as saying his growing radicalism was a factor in their divorce three years ago.
"You pray as a family, you stay together as a family," the News report Stone as saying. "When he got carried away, when he went from handguns to big guns, it's like, now I'm done."
The group's Web site says Hutaree means "Christian warrior."
'Extremist fringe'
Andrew Arena, head of the FBI's field office in Detroit, said the case "is an example of radical and extremist fringe groups which can be found throughout our society. The FBI takes such extremist groups seriously, especially those who would target innocent citizens and the law enforcement officers who protect the citizens of the United States."
Lebanese....
I believe in recent years some of the Muslim-representatives around the world have been asking for negative attention, don't you agree?
So yes, media-attention is not very intense as the subject is not all that interesting. These groups have always existed, they do not really harm anybody nor are they active.
Ssssshhhh mandi, don't take away the one thing they have to whinge about!

Oh? I'm in the US right now and and I am watching this story on all the news media 24/7. I don't think these radical Christian terrorists will get by with an "I'm sorry" (and they are being called terrorists in the media.)

If it was a muslim group , you will watch it on all international TV channels day by night and every single person in this world will hear about it and you will watch people attacking Islam as a religion , yes as a religion !
It's fine for these terrorists, they can just say the famous "sorry" (as once that drunk jerk criminal cowboy from Texas said) and walk by as nothing happened.
Effing nutcases.
What comes around, goes around....
USA - Uncivilized Society Assembled.
Now, we all know in the USA there are clans like the KKK and very small militia that believe in their superiority. As Islam gains territory into western societies, you will see right-wing parties popping up. Like in Europe now. Vlaams Blok - Belgium, PVV - Netherlands, France has moved to the right, as well as Austria - all becoming nationalistic in order to avoid loss of culture. Like Germany has imposed a rule that the German Culture is LEAD-CULTURE within its borders. Unfortunately the world is becoming smaller and societies more diverse, either this gets undone through a bloody civil war in Europe or we see the world as it is and accept our neighbors. For the latter, we need to ban religion from our streets, public areas, work and schools. To accomplish this, we need right wing parties :-(
Concluding, either way, we are F-ed.
deepb, because they're not Muslims....
Question is why do news agencies call them militia as well ? It feels like a terrorist activity to me.

?????????????????????????????????????

I was being sarcastic, but the 2nd amendment gurantees Americans the right to bear arms. When it was made in the 1700's it was meant the Americans had the right to own weapons so they could defend themselves from invading Brit's or bears or something, now it's outdated.
Unfortunately these "Christian" militia groups see the 2nd amendment as a way of justifying their desire to overthrow the current American government for whatever reasons. They are terrorist's plain and simple.

So obtaining arms and planning an attack on US gov is Americans right according to the 2nd ammendment. Well every where else this is considered a terrorist act. I do wounder "what if gruop of muslims were caught doing the same, what would have been public and government response then?"
PS: I do like the fact how people commentted in a repectful manner to this post. We don't see a lot of that these days.
The only thing that should be bashed in this thread is the USA's 2nd amendment.

Considering that the second amendment guarantees the rights of Americans to have weapons to overthrow their government I don't see how they're in the wrong.
