Qatar is a reliable partner and will make all efforts in supporting and assisting the people of Syria, in accordance to international law, Sheikh Mohamed said.
He emphasized that taking the Syrian people out of their misery requires a dedicated effort from the international community. The community must fulfill its humanitarian obligations to ensure the implementation of Security Council resolution 2165 that calls for the facilitation and provision of humanitarian access to Syrians in all affected areas as well as Syrian refugees in other countries, reported Gulf Times.
The Minister shed light on some data and facts including the number of the deceased exceeding 500,000 with over 12 million people displaced from their homeland. This he said is in addition to the massive destruction of property and infrastructure in most areas of the Syria.
He further said that the continued atrocities committed by the Syrian regime against its citizens lessen the impact of the humanitarian and political efforts made by other countries. However, the international community needs to intensify efforts in bringing justice to the Syrian people.

Sheikh Mohamed pointed out that there is an international will to deal with impunity, praising judicial proceedings by some countries such as France and Germany against members of the Syrian regime.
Qatar appreciates the efforts of the international, Impartial and Independent Mechanism on Syria to assist in the investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the most serious crimes committed in Syria, particularly in cooperation with the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria and civil society organizations to exchange information and evidence to document violations, the FM said.
