Written by a Pakistani journalist about India.......

By Dr Farrukh Saleem

Here's what is happening in India :

The two Ambani brothers can buy 100 percent of every company listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and would still be left with $30 billion to spare. The four richest Indians can buy up all goods and services produced over a year by 169 million Pakistanis and still be left with $60 billion to spare. The four richest Indians are now richer than the forty richest Chinese.

In November, Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensex flirted with 20,000 points. As a consequence, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries became a $100 bill ion company (the entire KSE is capitalized at $65 billion). Mukesh owns 48 percent of Reliance.

In November, comes Neeta's birthday. Neeta turned forty-four three weeks ago. Look what she got from her husband as her birthday gift:

A sixty-million dollar jet with a custom fitted master bedroom, bathroom with mood lighting, a sky bar, entertainment cabins, satellite television, wireless communication and a separate cabin with game consoles. Neeta is Mukesh Ambani's wife, and Mukesh is not India 's richest but the second richest.

Mukesh is now building his new home, Residence Antillia (after a mythical, phantom island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean). At a cost of $1 billion this would be the most expensive home on the face of the planet. At 173 meters tall Mukesh's new family residence, for a family of six, will be the equivalent of a 60-storeyed building. The first six floors are reserved for parking. The seventh floor is for car servicing and maintenance.. The eighth floor houses a mini-theatre. Then there's a health club, a gym and a swimming pool. Two floors are reserved for Ambani family's guests. Four floors above the guest floors are family floors all with a superb view of the Arabian Sea On top of everything are three helipads. A staff of 600 is expected to care for the family and their family home.

In 2004, India became the 3rd most attractive foreign direct investment destination. Pakistan wasn't even in the top 25 countries.

In 2004, the United Nations, the representative body of 192 sovereign member states, had requested the Election Commission of India to assist the UN in the holding elections in Al Jumhuriyah al Iraqiyah and Dowlat-e Eslami-ye Afghanestan. Why the Election Commission of Indiaand not the Election Commission of Pakistan? After all, Islamabad is closer to Kabul than is Delhi .

Imagine, 12 percent of all American scientists are of Indian origin; 38 percent of doctors in Americaare Indian; 36 percent of NASA scientists are Indians; 34 percent of Microsoft employees are Indians; and 28 percent of IBM employees are Indians.

Pakistan have a chance to smile also:Everything is not doom n gloom for Pakistan.
A good majority of the Al Qaeeda operatives are funded by pakistan.Pakistan is infamously known as the epicentre of all terror activities in the world.99% of insurgents sneaking into India are Pak origins. The percentage of people under the poverty line in Pakistan is astronomical than India.Pakistan may be the most corrupt Cricket team in the world.Recent floods shoed a horrendous condtion of the country's infrastructure on the media-- still the y have got Nuke(With that money they could have fed a good sum of their population).

Why follow the footsteps of " Richer" neighbours.....

For the record: Sabeer Bhatia created and founded Hotmail. Sun Microsystems was founded by Vinod Khosla. The Intel Pentium processor, that runs 90 percent of all computers, was fathered by Vinod Dham.

Rajiv Gupta co-invented Hewlett Packard's E-speak project. Four out of ten Silicon Valley start-ups are run by Indians. Bollywood produces 800 movies per year and six Indian ladies have won Miss Universe/Miss World titles over the past 10 years.

For the record: Azim Premji, the richest Muslim entrepreneur on the face of the planet, was born in Bombay and now lives in Bangalore.India now has more than three dozen billionaires; Pakistan has none (not a single dollar billionaire).

The other amazing aspect is the rapid pace at which India is creating wealth. In 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh and Anil Ambani's father, left his two sons a fortune worth $2.8 billion. In 2007, their combined wealth stood at $94 billion. On 29 October 2007, as a result of the stock market rally and the appreciation of the Indian rupee, Mukesh became the richest person in the world, with net worth climbing to US$63.2 billion (Bill Gates, the richest American, stands at around $56 billion).
Indians and Pakistanis have the same Y-chromosome haplogroup. We have the same genetic sequence and the same genetic marker (namely: M124).
We have the same DNA molecule, the same DNA sequence. Our culture, our traditions and our cuisine are all the same. We watch the same movies and sing the same songs. What is it that Indians have and we don't?

INDIANS ELECT THEIR LEADERS!!!!!

And also to mention: They think of Construction of own nation, unlike other nations who are just concerned with destruction of others...

Simple answer to why the Indians far better than the Pakistanis - They don't focus on religion all the time and neither do they spend time and money in devising ways to kill their own and everyone else over religion.

Plus if India is such high econmy nation, high standards, more money...why you all cannot be accomodated there and serve your country...why we find that in all money making areas - indians are there to earn as much as possible at every level - - see there is no best place other than your own country - - nobdy leaves the country until need be...may it be financial or else....so all thos who are paraising here so much....we all are expats..and we are here due to some circumstance...and it means that somehoew we didt not find sufficient in our own countires..and found better here..thaswhy we all left our home coutnires to work here... being patriotic is good - bt being biasd is terrrible...

The litmus paper test for a nation to be good..is that country can accomodate and fulfil need of its people without any external help...With all billionaires and growing makret investments...we find Indian expats in more and more number across the world. why?

Now dont say that coutiores find qaulity in idian - we all knw that this is nt the case... so see the mirror first...tkae soem lesson from history- - and dont be an over patriotic. lol

leave their countries and go in search of a better opportunity. I don't find it surprising that it means a select few will go to India to work, do you? It's not that different from Indians in much larger numbers flocking to the Gulf.

It would be nice if India could employ more of their own and such a large number didn't have to work in bad conditions here in the GCC, wouldn't it? I hope that happens some day.

If only our grandparents would read this, would be shocked ...m sure did not even imagine " INDIANS would one day be divided by some tress-passers into PAKISTANIS AND INDIANS"

Good that the british came, at least we know how weak we were, takes just a forward for us to create a conflict...

INDIA was divided into 3, if was divided into 30 then today Punjabi's would hate Malayali's, Gujrati's would hate Bengali's and Kashmiris would have Tamilians.....

TODAY u say we are 1...this is what 'U" said even b4 partition...

I might not be as qualified or as intelligent like many of you here, but do know the diff between good and bad.

Few politicians like GHANDI/JINNAH/NEHRU for their personal interest divided the nation but u people still celerate ghandi Jayanti, Children's day( Nehrus Bday)... May be some day for Mr Jinnah too...

But who even remembers BHAGAT SINGH, who celebrates the bday of SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE.....????

They fought for freedom, for our freedom for the freedom of 1 INDIA....

i can write a lot on truth, but in just 2 words i would conclude..

GROWUP & JAIHIND

http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/uncategorized/indians-are-a-force-in-us-but-beware-of-statistics_10027868.html

Indian professionals in the US truly make India proud, but the statistics quoted in parliament to highlight their contributions are either overstated or unverifiable, a scrutiny of available data reveals. Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari had sought to reveal some statistics in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, last week, ascribing impressive numbers to Indians who are contributors to the US’ knowledge economy.

Thirty-eight percent of doctors in the US are Indians, as are 36 percent of the scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and 34 percent of Microsoft employees, the minister said.

The statistics have since invited critical comments on the internet, with many bloggers and internet chain mails describing the data as being exaggerated and with no verifiable claims - even as some others defended the Indian minister.

“You can’t blame just Indian politicians for faulty data,” said Vivek Wadhwa, a Harvard fellow and Duke University professor, who also said that US companies cannot ask employees about their ethnicity.

“US senators and congressmen have been citing inflated numbers on the graduation rates of engineers in India and China versus the US,” added Wadhwa, who has led a study at Duke on engineering and globalisation.

Only broader questions whether an employee is an Asian or a Pacific islander can be posed, he said and estimated the number of Indians at Microsoft operations at 10 percent at best and not 34 percent as suggested by the Indian minister.

The data on doctors evokes similar answer, with a spokesperson for the American Medical Association saying out of 900,000 doctors in the US, 720,000 actually see patients and of them 48,000 have degrees from India.

This places the share of Indian doctors in the US at 10 percent - the largest among all physicians educated in the US, but not 38 percent as stated in the Rajya Sabha.

This also corroborates the data available with the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), that claims a membership of more than 40,000 doctors and another 15,000 medical students and residents.

Inder Singh, the international president of the Global Organisation of Persons of Indian Origin, adds that the AAPI has few second generation Indians as members - and that even by that count one can barely get past the 10 percent mark.

On NASA numbers, Inder Singh said, there are a good number of Indians - and not just astronaut Sunita Williams - working for the space agency but they are far less in numbers than the 36 percent as cited by the Indian minister.

The key sentence is "We have the same DNA molecule, the same DNA sequence. Our culture, our traditions and our cuisine are all the same. We watch the same movies and sing the same songs."

Rather than always trying to prove that one is better than the other, perhaps it would be better to focus on the commonalities and rejoice.

Hello Sadheel

Thank you for that elaborate detailing of India's wealthy. The secret to the success of these people & Indians as a whole is just two things

" Indian's realise their mistakes

They try not to repeat those mistakes "

Every suceess follows this one principle....an example Sak10 is the babri masjid issue...Every one including Indians expected 1992 to repeat after the verdict...but it did not...

Those maids are paid....check a dictionary ...slaves dont get paid....I salute those thousands of maids who are taking care of homes & kids of people irrespective of which nationality they are & contributing to the welfare of their own families back home...

Hiding women inside 4 walls is not protecting them...India is marching forward not because an established nation was handed down to them but ...our men & women are working hard to stabilise their own homes.

Secure Homes ... Stable Society .... Wealthy Nation...thats the path of progress

Remember...when u fling dirt at others...your hands get dirty too....

Sak10, but yesterday when Ayodhya verdict came out all political and communal parties pleaded for peace and everybody accepted the court verdict happily in India, while in Pakistan some islamic parties protested in karachi and queta against the verdict.

How ridiculous.

Helloooooooooo - - is babri masjid controversy happening in some other india?

its a sick article by sick person. If know some history, paksitan was built by leftover, those people left behind everything and rebuilt the state. India ramined as is and so was the wealth. India jsut carried on after 1947 with sufficient resources, whereas Pakistan created from scratch with almost zero capital. Still.... the division of money is far better in Paksitan than in India. In india you will find tycoons of wealth and millions of people killing their duaghters because they cannot afford a single plate of rice. so instead comparing paksitan---its beter to compare india from indians.... you will find indian in almost all money making part of the world like termites. havent you seen here..indian girls with almost all nationalities men...to get money they have sold out evrything.

Why there are plenty of indian maids in each arab national household...why not even a single Paksitani maid...because still Paksitan doesnt need to send there innocent girls to serve as a slave....but Indian goverment instead having all the money.....not taking any chance to loos any penny.

There can absolutely be no comparison between new found land and the existing hundreds year old state.

and yes Pakistan came first as nuclear power state. and yes Paksitan intellgence is far bwetter - they are not using blackberries to goofups.
