Another one bites the dust

OMG! I just moved to Doha, and slept next to an open window, as I always do if the weather allows; this morning I see there is a layer of dust aveywhere in the room; the worst is that my baby is sleeping with us in her cot. We won't last here is we can't find a solution for this problem. I urgently need to buy some type of air filter. Please advise where and what to buy!

GodFather.

What were you thinking leaving the window open.. Wait till the heat sets in then you will have no choice to make sure the window is closed.

Since you are new here in Qatar i think you should read first the country's history same as the countries you've seen on somewhere else (ex:Canada-very cold weather every 10 months). You must be aware of it.There are weather forecasts every week same as other countries. You are now in the part of the middle east countries and of course it will always have a sand storm. You should exfoliate every day and take a shower everyday!

Good luck! :)

doors too can be insulated by placing self adhesive sponges all around the door frames, and below the door edge. not only it prevents dust, but also insects and even light from passing.

the problem is: the door will need some pressure to close and even to open, and the sponges need to be changed regularly since they tend to detach, or become dirty black.

Close the open window.

First--close the window.

Second--follow the weather report to be aware of future storms

Third--Have a worker put sealer on any spaces around window frame.

Fourth--change or clean airfilter on AC every couple of months.

Fifth--you can buy an air purifier

Shame your poor thing! As everyone suggest dust with a damp cloth and keep you windows closed. I will try the duct tape.....seems like it could work.

At this rate I'll certainly need a live-in maid!

at pticica,

dust would still be there no matter what you use. windows can be sealed, yet can the doors too??

since you have a baby at home, you will need to wipe the house items ( furniture & others ) atleast once a day with a damp cotton cloth (slightly wet as it could damage the furniture). if you wipe with a normal cloth the dust would go, yet it will land somewhere else inside the house.

we live in a house where there's road & building construction going on right in front of our house & now the land lord is building another room right on top of the floor where I live hence i'm so contaminated to dust.

wipe the items. sweep the floor or you can even use the vaccume cleaner & mop the floors regularly to stay healthy!

Never open your windows unless you love to eat & breathe dust. I always close & seal my windows. It's normal to have dust slipping through.

LG has designed good air filters which can be very useful in this time of the year, so close ur windows and forget about the natural air for a while till the weather become better

Where exactly would you fit this filter ??

The best option is to erect a tent inside your room (As I did). This will protect you from the dust.

apply duct tape on the window linings to prevent dst from coming in to your room.

The waether here is not Predictable. You may have a sand storm at night and it is not practical to sleep with open window and with a sand storm it will be a DISASTER.

I think manjority of the people who come to this part of the world have a fair knowledge of this weather. I am sorry that you did not know this but you have learnt it the hard way. God bless

And even if you close your window and the doors, the dust will still be in your rooms.

hi, please dont make things harder for you & your family. all you have to do is simply close your window (i suppose it is a glass panel like what most of us have here).

as for your question of air filter, you can just make a visit to Villagio or City Centre to buy this item.

Cheers & have a good day!
