Courier Shipment Stolen
I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone.
I sold an item to someone in Italy and shipped to him with a major courier. The guy says "the box was broken and then closed with brown tape (not the original tape)." The item was stolen and all he received was an empty box and the invoice.
I feel really sorry for the guy. The courier company will refund him to the insured value of the item but the item is really and truly rare and very difficult to find/replace.
Ever encountered anything like this?
Yes, it can happen and it does happen very often.
They break things, they steal or lose them...yup! Happened to me also.
To add to this, I can tell you that my husband works for one of the big automotive companies and their cars are always being shipped from Europe. You cannot imagine how many things are missing from those cars, especially the fully loaded versions: mobile phones, DVD players. Everything goes under insurance.
You see, who works in all those companies? Only people!
And people do all the things you could imagine....
Yeh you are right in a way .. the item now has become "rare and very difficult to find"
They will refund the value of the shipment but that doesn't replace the item. I'm just wondering if it's the Italians.
better have them signed the list of things you have in the box.many couriers do this.and they guarantee that shipment will reach the place nothing is missing or else they'll gonna pay evry gone items."truly rare and difficult to find" stuffs?that's priceless.
No, Reckless, the guy is really broken up about it. And he's not demanding a refund or anything. I just don't know where it happened. Thought crossed my mind that it may have happened here.
The thing is the customer asked, for Italian customs tax purposes, to have a copy of the invoice on the outside with the airway bill so we were advertising the exact nature of the contents.
yea you are right i sent a mobil phone earphone was missing when it reached my friend in Bahrain.later found out the person who took my package here at DHL took it out.

What if the guy got the item .. Took it out of the package and then said he never received it ??
Does that happen ? Or can that happen ??

Never ever. But I've never shipped "truly rare and very difficult to find" items either.
