Cricket WC chaos like Asian Cup ?

Deja Vu ?

The official ticketing website of the Cricket World Cup crashed today amid a mad scramble for tickets.

Extremely low crowds at the Australia game. As Australia began their bid to win a fourth successive title against Zimbabwe, only a few thousand fans had trickled into the 48,000-capacity venue.

Brit follow today's game to see why B teams are there, to humiliate England ;o)

Netherlands- 292 for 6 in 50 overs

England- 53 for 0 after 10 overs

It's a bit difficult to comment on that.

The world cup is a bit too long and there are more than a few boring games. New Zealand vs Kenya yesterday for example but then if the associate members don't play here then they will never get a chance to play against the big boys and show how good they really are.

They always pull out some interesting results. Remember Kenya made it to the Semis in 2003 when the world cup was held in Africa but the side fell away after that, Ireland did pretty well in 2007 though they were also involved in some one-sided games.

Don't you think that Its too long and the "B" teams shouldn't be there

Harry there were 50,000 spectators inside the stadium to watch a practice game between India and New Zealand last week, nowhere will you find any game attracting that number for an unofficial practice game. Cricket crazy indeed but not many want to spend their money and take a day off from work to watch Zimbabwe play.

There will be full houses every time the 2 sides involved are test playing nations.

chaos usually occurs when you have a valid ticket and you can't enter a ground.

poor marketing, crap games and demographics of the region is the reason for poor crowd numbers. australia will wrap the game up soon anyway.

some locals will be thankful they saved their rupees on this match.

but Indians are cricket mad. So it is a shame that such a low crowd turned out.

Cricinfo's post about the attendance today

Attendance at the Motera - 9,569. Impressive

You can find that comment on this page

None of the host nations involved, mostly expected to be a dull one-sided contest and it is proving to be one, on a working day (Remember it's ODI cricket where game lasts for 8 hours) and still close to 10,000 turned up. It is impressive.
