qatar has gone threw some changes over the years...

one of which is down town...

i believe this first picture was taken only 10 years ago... maybe not even that long ago...

this second picture i patched together using google maps...

it shows how much change has gone on over these few years...

after further review... and talking to other people... the first picture was taken only 5 years ago...HOLY CRAP...

it was done around the same time the four seasons was built (as also noticed by ngourlay)

so that means doha is growing faster than dubai... WOW such a busy place

i have noticed over the 8 months i have been here... more and more traffic every day... so im not to surprised...

I think it opened in 2005.

From the stories I have picked up from people here and there such as cabbies and locals, the first pic may be as recent as 6 years old. Have to ask how old is the city centre mall because thats about the only thing standing in the first picture.

Speaks volumes about the pace of growth.......

speaking of which, I hope we dont get a building in front of mine which may rob me of my sea view in the next few months :-(
