I just want to say that Tots Corner is very bad...they dont really care for the children they just care for who is over whom there and who is the leader and who not. all the time they do a lot of things to kick each other out of work...and the blond american lady that is now the coordinator she is so badddddd that all women there left the job without even getting fired...My best friend is teacher there and she told me to not give my child to tots corner...

Lifetime Nursery, letterally is ILLOGICAL. A butterfly lifecycle: EGG, LARVA, PUPA, ADULT... hehehe! Where can u find a case, where a 2-year old boy remained 2-year old a lifetime? lol!

Unfortunately (or fortunately) we are not always aware of what goes on. You would be amazed how many institutions do this to their sponsored staff, let's not open another can of worms! You wouldn't buy from Carrefour, you wouldn't fly with QA... etc etc etc. One simply has to accept we live here...and things are changing but slowly. Do you think that me protesting and leaving the place helped things to change? I doubt it. Nobody cares. On the other hand, people that feel mistreated go, complain to the Labour Ministry, if lucky they get the flight back home and then they want to return because there is no hope overthere! I helped one of the ladies with part of her ticket to go home and then I had her calling me to get her a job here again!

I left last year and certainly not in best terms, as you can infer from my last two paragraphs. Nevertheless, I still think that for kids and parents the place is really great.

I am not sure about the branch you mention, but LifeTime at WestBay is the best place for little princess and princes LITERALLY. Kids and parents are treated with most respect, the place is spotless clean, children have specialist teachers for computer, French, Arabic, Islam (optional) on top of their normal English curriculum. It is beyond belief. As a parent you couldn't be happier. The children have a class teacher -normally native English speaker, and TWO assistants per class in a class of 15 to maximum 20 kids, unbelievable!!

The kids learn a lot and are accepted without any problem in top schools... and get bored there since the first year they will be learning very much the same they already know!! It is a pitty they haven't expanded from Nursery to school, I guess it's too much hassle.

Children are better taken care than at home, sometimes, (since the salary of the assistants depends directly on the kids' welfare.) Kids are properly fed, have a super-organised routine which many schools would benefit from, food is WARMED UP if necessary and the dishes are sent CLEAN home... You also get a detailed account EVERYDAY of what the child ate or not!! You would never see a child with a running nose or a dirty face in that school, I swear it. No comparison to other nurseries, even more expensive ones...

They have very nice and properly mantained toys. Learning material from TimeLife collection is one of the best (not to get in Doha since the company just created a new set, unfortunately). Teachers combine music from popular baby 'heroes' with fun phonics and learning and there are also lots of activities with hands-on material, I simply thing the place is great, but...

On the downside, the waiting list is enormous and I get the impression some kids get the chance earlier than other in the list... who knows. To me, the school hours for older children are too long, what some parents like since they end up exhausted... there is no nap for them as such since the idea is to make them use to longer school hours. Pick your darling up early if you want her/him to have a midday sleep. Activities are soooo structured that there is little chance for the children for spontaneous learning and discovery, but of course that depends on the teacher.

Also, if you are new to Doha, turn a blind eye to the life of the assistants since it is very very hard and you would be horrified if you didn't know how things are here. They love your kids since they are away from their own and you would be surprise how well they take care of them. Please do not complain about silly things because what for you might be a little comment can end up in them having their already miserable salary reduced.

Last year LF was great, this year they had a total staff turnover, but I guess the Manager kept the level just as good as it was before.

That comment above, written in the first thread, left me cold and would stop me putting my kids in there. If management react to constructive criticism or a valid complaint by cutting staff wages, then that says enough about the place for me and I would certainly not put my kid there.

I don't like the close connection between nursery and educational supplier at LifeTime.

I wouldn't trust a doctor employed by a drug company, and I don't really trust a school which is part of a educational publishing company.

Sorry, I'm probably just being a cynic. For the record, my boy went to Starfish Lane. He enjoyed it. I hear there are a few other nice ones, but you need to turn up at the door and ask for a look around. Is the place clean? Do the kids look happy? Are the classroom assistants speaking the same language as your child?

I went round the LifeTime nursery that you asked about. It's round the corner from Choueifat School, and so it's popular among Arab families. Like Choueifat, you might be surprised if you're coming from a Western system at how hard they work the kids. It definitely wasn't my cup of tea.
