Greetings my fellow Malaysian,

My name is Robert and I am from Kuala Lumpur. I am currently residing in Doha with a 5 months contract. I'm gonna speak in Malay if you don't mine.

Pertolongan anda amat dihargai.

Robert

I'm curious. Where did you read the article saying that the food did not represent authentic Malaysian cuisine? It's quite misleading. Is it possible that that was your own interpretation of what represented/didn't represent Malaysian cuisine?"

Yeah, misleading. The food definitely does represent authentic Malaysian cuisine. And that's coming from a Malaysian. Mojo is unlikely to be Malaysian or if he is, biased towards Penang.

Oh..and Qatarina, your list of dishes on sale is mouthwatering! :0)

You read our minds. We are actually going to be selling chicken and beef satay (with all the condiments) for the bazaar on the 11th of sept.

The char kuey teow bit is a little bit tricky as no one sells the freshly made noodles here. We actually have to make it from scratch, assuming you know how.

We try to do the best we can to come up with authentic dishes. But as you may already know, it's not easy to find them here, and if you're lucky and you do, they are in limited quantities and can be quite pricey. Additionally, our booth is donating every single cent/dirham to charity.

As for the teh tarik, I could probably persuade the 'drinks' guys from the other booth to sell them. But can't promise you anything.

I'm curious. Where did you read the article saying that the food did not represent authentic Malaysian cuisine? It's quite misleading. Is it possible that that was your own interpretation of what represented/didn't represent Malaysian cuisine?

For your info, these are some of the dishes that will be on sale this coming friday:

nasi berlauk, laksam, ikan bakar (grilled fish),sambal udang(prawn sambal), roti jala, laksa penang, ayam percik (grilled coconut chicken), beef rendang, popiah, mee rebus, bihun sup utara, mee kari (curry noodle), mee/bihun soto, currypuff, nasi minyak (similar to beriyani), bubur lambuk, lontong, putu mayam, putu piring, murtabak, pau, various desserts, masak lemak, sambal belacan, nasi goreng kerabu, satay, onde-onde and nasi tomato (tomato rice).

Hope to see you there.

I indeed missed the 4th Septemeber bazaar but after reading that it didnt have the things which truly represent Malaysian cuisine I now feel I didn't miss much.

In my opinion should there be a bazaar held on the 11th September..it needs the following:

1) Beef / chicken satay along with complete condiments (peanut sauce, rice cube, cucumbers and onions).

2) Teh tarik..where the teh is an actual tarik

3) All types of char keoy teow (CKT)

5) Murtabak you already have so I can give you that one

4) If all above are there..then only mojo is there :P

Most may or may not know, char keoy teow are flat rice noodles mixed in soy sauce, chicken, beef, vegetables, blended in with egg, all cooked in a wok within few minutes.

Teh tarik is close relative to your normal tea or karak as found in the corners stands but teh tarik is your normal tea blended with evaporative and condensed milk (somtimes as recipe differs).

When I mention the teh needs to be tarik..it refers tea being pulled (tarik means pull / yank) when being poured so hoard amounts of bubbles are formed.

In any case, im not a malay but really love the cuisine, regardless how many times I pass by Malaysia.
