PET Passports.
Does anyone have any idea why Qatar Continues to Drag its heel on implimenting Pet passports like Abu Dhabi.
I can imagine it is because of the powerful families liking for Big Cats, but enough ignoring issue. I rescued 2 Dogs here and will never leave them behind and other than putting them in quarentine for 6 months( which is not good for rescue dogs) I have to wait.
WTF
YOU can import your wild Lion/Leopard/Tiger from Africa but I cant simply take my 2 innocent Pets Home.
Shame on you.
Rant Over
Thanks Everyone for the replies we are considering all the options. :)
google pet re-locators qatar and they'll give u the full picture
Unfortunately a lot of the exotic animals are not imported legally. They're brought across the border from Saudi and are "missed" at the crossing point.
Also, they are sometimes listed as something they are not on import manifests and no check is done or wasta or money plays a part.
I do believe the Qatari Government is a sincere signatory to the CITES treaty - but sometimes those who are supposed to carry out the day to day tasks to enforce that treaty do not do so.

Speak to QAWS. They'll give you the latest on the situation.
I'm assuming you're from the UK. One option is to take the dogs to somewhere like France or Spain and live there for 6 months, and then go to the UK once they qualify for a pet passport. Not ideal though, from a job point of view mainly.
This would be a good change. Who needs to make this happen?
